Conference�programme

The programme’s key event was the second edition of the Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development. It included an analytical session on electrical engineering market 2025-2026, dedicated to the issues of technological sovereignty, import substitution, staff shortage and entering the markets of Asia and North Africa. The session was attended by representatives of RAEC, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and international experts.

In addition to the forum, the show once again featured unique interactive events in the format of job fair called Job guide, where participating companies conducted interviews, and HR experts held masterclasses.

Elektro 2025 confirmed its status as the main event of the electrical engineering sector in Russia and the CIS. The participants praised the high level of organisation, the rich conference programme, and the target audience, which included representatives of industry, engineering companies and government agencies.

Elektro 2025 has opened its doors

The 33rd�International Exhibition for Electrical Equipment, Lighting Engineering, Building Automation ��Elektro 2025�has opened at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds. The event is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Energy and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.��

This year, 360 companies from 5 countries (Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkiye) are taking part in Electro on the area of 7,200 net square metres. China and Turkiye arrange national pavilions. There are 200 Russian exhibitors including major enterprises of the electrical industry.

The conference programme opened with the Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development.�Sergey Selivanov, Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, addressed the participants of the opening analytical session on the electrical engineering market 2025-2026: development factors of the electrical engineering industry in the new paradigm of technological sovereignty, high geopolitical, financial and economic risks.

He pointed out that for many years EXPOCENTRE has been bringing together industry leaders � manufacturers, suppliers and major consumers of electrical equipment � at Elektro. The four-day showcase features the latest developments in all segments of the electrical market.

Sergey Selivanov also expressed confidence that the platform of the Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development will allow to raise all the most relevant issues and discuss the trends of the electrical market.

Viktor Svintsov, the session�s moderator and Executive Director at the Russian Association of Electrical Companies (RAEC), introduced the speakers and spoke about the topics to be discussed during the session. These are trends and vectors of development of the Russian electrical engineering industry for 2025/26, key challenges and opportunities for the next year, the status of the import substitution project in electrical engineering for the next two years, and much more. The participants will pay special attention to business opportunities in the Asian and North African markets, prospects for Russian companies working with these regions, as well as new segments and niches.

Show Highlights

Low-voltage switchgear is the heart of any power supply system. It provides power distribution, equipment control, and reliable protection. Such devices play a key role in the completion of substations, automating and protecting technological processes. Low-voltage switchgear, installations and systems are the most widely represented exhibits at this year\'s Elektro as 107 companies are demonstrating them.

Examples of major projects include the development of energy infrastructures for new industrial zones and upgrades to transport networks and urban facilities. The demand for transformers has increased significantly in 2025. Transformers and measuring transformers are demonstrated at Elektro by 45 companies, while electrical panels, cabinets, and boxes by 46 companies. Measuring and regulating devices, generators and converters, electrical equipment for large industrial installations are also widely shown.

This year, the exhibition team continues to develop the Elektro partner zone, which is located in the heart of the exhibition in Hall 1 of Pavilion No. 2.

DKC returned to Elektro after a considerable break and straight away became the show�s�general partner. The company is an important player of the electrotechnical market. It was established in 1998 and now manufacturers more than 40 thousand items. DKC makes electrical products, cable support systems, automation equipment, IT solutions, lightning protection systems and so on. Over 90 per cent of products are manufactured in Russia, thus delivery times are significantly shortened, and the risk that some products will be out of stock is reduced.

New dates of Elektro 2025

Elektro is changing its dates for 2025. The show will now run at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds from 1 through 4 April 2025. The change of dates is due to the order of the President of the Russian Federation that is transferring the territory of EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds for use by the Russia National Centre. Exhibitions will continue to be held at Krasnopresnenskaya embankment until 1 June 2025.

Preparations are currently underway for the display and conference programme of Elektro 2025. We will be happy to see you as our exhibitors and visitors.

�This year was our second participation in the show. Last year, the stand was smaller. We realised that participation in the show gave us a big boost to sales, so this year we occupy a stand several times bigger.

Already on the first day, we saw a great deal of buying activity. There were a lot of visitors, several times more than last year.

We present air circuit breakers with rotary contactors, modular circuit breakers for 15 and 20 kiloamperes, an updated line of medium voltage and arc-fault protection, which according to the legislation is now mandatory for installation in social facilities.

We are confident that participation in the show will allow us to further increase our customer base and our brand awareness.�

Open Championship of Electricians

The finals of the 7th edition of the Open Championship of Electricians 2024 was held as part of Elektro 2024.

The competition is designed to promote the prestige of the profession and improve the professional skills of electricians and electrical engineers, as well as to provide additional opportunities for career development of the participants.

The event is organised by IEK Group with the support of the National Research University �Moscow Power Engineering Institute� (MPEI).

All championship participants pass preliminary qualifying stages related to theoretical and practical training. The final results are determined during the final competitions, which are held as an integral part of the Elektro international exhibition.

This time 30 electricians from different regions of Russia competed at EXPOCENTRE, having passed the qualifying stage of the championship and the semi-finals. Each task of the finals was evaluated by international experts.

Based on the results of the live and entertaining competition, the jury named the winners. The 7th IEK Open Championship of Electricians ended with the awarding of the winners, who received certificates for cash prizes, as well as international Skills Passport professional skills certificates, which guarantee entry into the international electricians� database.

The champions are given an opportunity to receive further education based on MPEI, confirmed by a special state certificate.

Staff shortage in the electrical engineering Industry

The Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development, held within the Elektro 2024 conference programme, featured the Panel Discussion on Staff Shortage in the Electrical Engineering Industry: Problems of Staff Sourcing in the Context of a Nationwide Shortage of Technical Personnel.

The discussion was moderated by Irina Kulaeva, PR Director at EcoPromCentre. In her opening speech, she noted that the shortage of personnel remained an important issue, which negatively affected, among other things, the market of electrical installation services. The growth of demand for labour force exceeds the supply of the labour market. This situation entails an increase in salaries due to the resulting shortage of qualified professionals. Enterprises need to adapt to the changed conditions of personnel recruitment and take advantage of the general rule that �it is cheaper to retain than to attract�.

The discussion also touched upon the practical aspects of the topic. The speakers included Petr Nekrasov, Head at the IEK Department for Expert Community and Educational Institutions Relations, Ruvim Boyko, General Director at OVKES Academy, the first school for professional engineering and installation education in Russia, Svetlana Materikina, Head at the Electrical Systems Department of MARKS GROUP, and others.
