The conference programme of�Elektro 2026�opened with the 3rd�Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development.

The first event, the electrical engineering in a storm: where to find growth points, keep government contracts, and exports in the context of localization and technological blockade, was moderated by�Viktor Svintsov, Executive Director at the Russian Association of Electrical Companies (RAEC).

Sergey Selivanov, Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He emphasized the scale and importance. This year, the 34th�edition of Elektro covers an area of 15,000 square meters and hosts 350 companies from Russia, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, and Turkiye. The speaker also focused on the change of the show’s location. “Our team made all necessary efforts so that the exhibitors would not feel the negative effect of the change of venue, and it would be as comfortable and efficient as possible for both the exhibitors and visitors,” said Mr. Selivanov.

Discussions at the forum revealed that the volume of the Russian electrical engineering market for the middle of 2026 is estimated at almost 2 trillion rubles. Its key segments are power electronics, microelectronics, charging infrastructure, industrial automation, digital substations, cable-carrying systems, and others. Speaking about the trends of 2022-2026, it was emphasized that the electrical engineering market shows high volatility. The recession of 2022 was replaced by growth in 2023-2024 as a replacement for the brands that had left. In 2025-2026, there will be a slowdown due to the high key interest rate, the actual unavailability of industrial mortgages and cheap loans, the exhaustion of pent-up demand, and other factors.

Vladimir Gamza, Chair at the Financial Market and Investment Council, member of the Board of Directors of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President at the F&I Consulting Consortium, and member of the Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, drew attention to serious macroeconomic challenges. “By the end of 2025, we are ranked fourth in the world in terms of key financial indicators. But we must understand that over the past 35 years, our average growth has been lower than the global average. If we develop at a rate of less than 2% of GDP per year, then by 2030 we will be in 7th or 8th place. The only option for us to stay in 4th place is to develop at a pace higher than the global average, that is, at least 3%,” said Mr. Gamza.

Maksim Kuznetsov, Chair at the Russian-Asian Business Council, Director General at Russian-Asian Trade and Industrial Company, highlighted the complexities of logistics and the specifics of working with Asian markets. He pointed to the acute trade imbalance with China in electrical equipment: imports exceed exports in price terms by more than two orders of magnitude. The expert also identified four main channels for the re-export of Western equipment�Turkiye, the UAE, Central Asia, and Hong Kong�warning market participants about the continued rise in the cost of advanced technological solutions.

The session participants also included�Aleksandr Afanasiev, Senior Researcher of the Centre for Innovative Economics of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and�Slavyana Rumyantseva, Chief Editor at the Energy and Industry of Russia newspaper.

The three days of the forum will offer fresh analytics and forward-looking assessments of the development of the electrical engineering market in Russia and the EAEU, which will help the event participants to make practical decisions. The participants will also learn about the latest trends in Russian electrical engineering developments that need to be put into practice as early as 2027. They will discuss innovative HR solutions that will provide the industry’s companies with mid-level personnel, and will help customers take care of maintenance and servicing of electrical equipment themselves.

In addition, there will be special panels where participants will analyze algorithms for solving urgent problems affecting the successful development of the industry.

Elektro 2026 has opened its doors

The 34^th�edition of the International Exhibition for Electrical Equipment, Lighting Engineering, Building Automation ��Elektro 2026�has opened at Crocus Expo, Moscow. The show is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Energy and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The show occupies an area of more than 14,500 sq. m to demonstrate equipment for generation, transmission and distribution of electric power, uninterruptible power supply systems, frequency converters, components for industrial automation, cable and wire products, and lighting solutions.

This year, 350 companies from 6 countries (Russia, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, and Turkiye) are taking part in Electro. China and Turkiye arrange national pavilions. There are 178 Russian exhibitors who showcase cable and wire products, cable-carrying systems, power transformers, complete switchgear, low-voltage complete devices of medium-voltage, relay protection and automation systems, electrical installation products, and some categories of low-voltage equipment.

The central event of this year�s conference programme is the 3rd�Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development. The participants will discuss the most relevant issues of the industry such as government procurement and export in the localization paradigm, financial and personnel issues, overcoming logistical difficulties, and much more.

The programme will also include the Expert Day of Electrical Equipment for Distribution Networks and Power Supply of Facilities. There will be three thematic blocks: trends and issues of designing electric grids using digital twins, BIM models, intelligent control systems, and surge protection; Made in Russia: the level of equipment localization and discussion about the potential technological leadership of domestic manufacturers; and biodynamic lighting, prospects for abandoning cloud solutions and using Russian-made controllers.

Innovation session and panel

The Interelectromash International Association will hold an Innovation session dedicated to the development of the production of electric machines. The key topics will be the problems of Russia\'s reindustrialization, standardization, development of new insulation systems and impregnation compounds, digitalization of production, and issues of equipment repair and staff shortages.

One more event will be the panel on current approaches to the operation of high-voltage equipment: increasing reliability, digitalization, and cost optimization. The discussion will focus on the transition to condition monitored maintenance (CMM) and the implementation of online monitoring. The invited experts will discuss the state of the transformer market, difficulties of replacing imported components (inputs, on-load regulation, cooling systems), integration of diagnostic systems, cybersecurity of cloud platforms, and use of digital twins. Special attention will be paid to the role of testing laboratories and the interaction of service companies with customers.

The programme’s key event was the second edition of the Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development. It included an analytical session on electrical engineering market 2025-2026, dedicated to the issues of technological sovereignty, import substitution, staff shortage and entering the markets of Asia and North Africa. The session was attended by representatives of RAEC, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and international experts.

In addition to the forum, the show once again featured unique interactive events in the format of job fair called Job guide, where participating companies conducted interviews, and HR experts held masterclasses.

The 33rd�International Exhibition for Electrical Equipment, Lighting Engineering, Building Automation ��Elektro 2025�has opened at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds. The event is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Energy and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.��

This year, 360 companies from 5 countries (Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkiye) are taking part in Electro on the area of 7,200 net square metres. China and Turkiye arrange national pavilions. There are 200 Russian exhibitors including major enterprises of the electrical industry.

The conference programme opened with the Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development.�Sergey Selivanov, Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, addressed the participants of the opening analytical session on the electrical engineering market 2025-2026: development factors of the electrical engineering industry in the new paradigm of technological sovereignty, high geopolitical, financial and economic risks.

Show Highlights

Low-voltage switchgear is the heart of any power supply system. It provides power distribution, equipment control, and reliable protection. Such devices play a key role in the completion of substations, automating and protecting technological processes. Low-voltage switchgear, installations and systems are the most widely represented exhibits at this year\'s Elektro as 107 companies are demonstrating them.

Examples of major projects include the development of energy infrastructures for new industrial zones and upgrades to transport networks and urban facilities. The demand for transformers has increased significantly in 2025. Transformers and measuring transformers are demonstrated at Elektro by 45 companies, while electrical panels, cabinets, and boxes by 46 companies. Measuring and regulating devices, generators and converters, electrical equipment for large industrial installations are also widely shown.

This year, the exhibition team continues to develop the Elektro partner zone, which is located in the heart of the exhibition in Hall 1 of Pavilion No. 2.

DKC returned to Elektro after a considerable break and straight away became the show�s�general partner. The company is an important player of the electrotechnical market. It was established in 1998 and now manufacturers more than 40 thousand items. DKC makes electrical products, cable support systems, automation equipment, IT solutions, lightning protection systems and so on.
